Police nab over 200 suspects in weeklong crime crackdown in QC
A total of 215 individuals involved in various criminal activities were arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after a weeklong series of operations that targeted illegal drugs, wanted persons, illegal gambling, and unlicensed firearms.
According to initial data, 70 drug suspects were arrested in 46 separate operations.
Police reported seizing an estimated P788,592 worth of illegal drugs, mostly shabu, during the series of buy-busts and surveillance-driven operations conducted across different barangays.
A significant portion of those apprehended were 83 wanted persons, including individuals who had evaded arrest for years.
Police identified the suspects as “Alexander,” 44, wanted for assaulting a person in authority and allegedly in hiding for 21 years, “Rogie”, 46, accused of violating city ordinances and on the run for 12 years, “Sherwin”, 49, wanted for attempted homicide and hiding for 10 years, “Cesar,” 54, linked to B.P. 22 violations and evading authorities for 9 years and Joseph,” 41, also wanted for attempted homicide and elusive for 7 years.
Police have already coordinated with the respective courts that issued the warrants for these suspects.
Meanwhile, in 39 anti-gambling operations, police arrested 56 individuals and seized nearly P20,000 in bet money.
Six people were arrested in operations targeting illegal firearms, with six unlicensed guns confiscated.
Charges have been filed against the various suspects under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165), Anti-Illegal Gambling Law (PD 1602), and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).
PCOL Randy Glenn Silvio said the results reflect QCPD’s continued push to curb crime and maintain order in the city.
“Our weeklong operations show our firm resolve to keep communities safe and crime-free,” he said.
