Mandaluyong City cited for outstanding skills training program for residents
The Technical Educational Skills Development Authority (TESDA) awarded the Mandaluyong City local government its third Kabalikat Award on Monday, Dec. 1, for its noteworthy achievements in providing its residents with top-notch livelihood skills training.
Mandaluyong City received its first Kabalikat Award in 2013 and its second award in 2019. The recognition is considered the highest honor given by TESDA to its partner sectors, including local government units (LGUs).
Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos personally received the award given by TESDA PAMAMARISAN District Director Maria Gracia De La Rama and TESDA Regional Director Angelina Carreon.
According to the TESDA officials, the agency had allocated a P1 billion investment for the city for the years 2023 to 2025, which the LGU had used in improving and expanding its livelihood training programs.
About 1,500 residents benefitted from the city's skills training, re-skilling, and up-skilling program per year.
Abalos expressed her gratitude to TESDA and the officials and employees of the Mandaluyong Manpower Technical-Vocational Training Center (MMTVTC), which became the city government's arm in reaching out to Mandaleños who are in need of learning new skills for their livelihood.
“Kasama natin silang nagbigay ng pagkakataong makabangon ang ating mga kababayan sa pamamagitan ng skills training (They are with us in providing our countrymen a chance to improve their livelihood and way of life through skills training)," Abalos said.
