The Malabon City government signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Philippine Pharma Procurement Inc. (PPPI) on Tuesday, Dec. 2, to strengthen healthcare delivery and expand residents’ access to medicines and vaccines.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and PPPI President and Chief Executive Officer Undersecretary Maria Bianca Kim B. Lokin led the signing at City Hall.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, the partnership will bring the national government’s Botika at Bakuna para sa Mamamayan (BBM) Pharmacy Program to Malabon. The program provides affordable, high-quality medicines and vaccines, particularly to communities with limited access to healthcare, through government pharmacies and public-private partnerships.
The initiative supports President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s eight-point socioeconomic agenda aimed at making essential health services more accessible to Filipinos.
Sandoval said the partnership is a milestone for the city as it strengthens healthcare programs and helps ensure that medicines reach residents who need them most.
"Isang makasaysayang araw po ang naganap dahil tayo ay nakipagtulungan sa Philippine Pharma Procurement Inc. upang mas papalaka ang ating mga programa at makasiguro na ang gamot na kailangan ng mga may sakit ay mailapit sa kanila (This is a historic day as we work with the Philippine Pharma Procurement Inc. to strengthen our programs and bring needed medicines closer to our people),” Sandoval said.
“Ang pamahalaang lungsod po ay handang umagapay sa ating mga mamamayan at masigurong ang kanilang pangangailangan sa kalusugan at natutugunan dahil ito ay ang magiging daan tungo sa mas maunlad na lungsod para sa bawat Malabueno (This agreement is the result of our shared goal to make our services more effective for Malabueno families),” she added.
Representatives from the city government and PPPI conducted inspections at the Ospital ng Malabon and the Longos Super Health Center to assess how the BBM program will be integrated into existing health services.
The partnership is expected to further support local initiatives such as the Universal Health Care Integration Site, Mobile Jeannie Services, and Health Services on Wheels, expanding the reach of medical care across the city.
The event was also attended by OsMal Chief Dr. Jennifer Amolo-Lim and City Health Department Officer-in-Charge Dr. Bernadette Bordador.
PPPI is a government-owned and controlled corporation operating under the Philippine International Trading Corporation and affiliated with the National Development Company.
It provides transparent and efficient procurement pathways for local governments and follows the provisions of the New Government Procurement Act (RA 12009).
