Filipino professionals can now access stable, long-term careers in Finland through the Philippines-Finland Friendship Week, which highlights ethical recruitment and transparent hiring practices.
Joonas Halla, Business Development Manager of Work in Finland, said the program guarantees safe pathways, residence permits, and full labor rights, allowing Filipino workers to fully integrate into Finnish society.
Four Finnish recruitment firms—Bondata, Silkkitie, Amiko, and Barona—are coordinating with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to promote fair hiring and worker support programs.
These firms also work with accredited private recruitment agencies to ensure safe recruitment channels for Filipino applicants.
A job fair will be held at Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall (Mega B), featuring opportunities in hospitality, services, and industrial roles such as welders and CNC machinists.
Applicants interested in attending are required to register through the official DMW Job Fair Portal.
Elina Santalahti, Executive Vice President for Global Talent Solutions at Barona, said the firm has ethically recruited Filipino professionals for over 15 years.
She added that Barona aims to connect Finnish companies with international talent while supporting both employers and workers.
Finland is facing a major workforce turnover, with nearly half of its employees expected to retire by 2040.
This demographic shift is projected to create a demand for 1.37 million new workers across social and health services, business, sales, and industrial sectors.
Rebekka Kiljunen, Partnership Director at Bondata, said the focus of the program is on long-term employment and providing extensive support to workers throughout their careers.
Halla further noted that Filipino professionals will receive equal pay, full labor protections, and the same rights as Finnish residents from their first day of work.
Finnish authorities emphasized that recruitment agencies are strictly prohibited from charging placement fees, with violations considered serious offenses under Finnish law.
Adding a festive touch, Santa Claus will appear at the Mega Fashion Hall to celebrate Finland’s heritage as the official home of Santa Claus, giving families a holiday experience before attending the job fair.
