Kapamilyas all over the world are celebrating the latest study published by the Reuters Institute on Journalism In The Philippines, which lists TV Patrol’s legendary OGs as 2025’s most recognizable and most-watched journalists.

The longtime anchors of TV Patrol continue to stand out, thrive, and adapt in the digital media landscape.
According to the published study, “Social media plays a major role in how Filipinos access news when compared with other countries, but it is news broadcasters and their journalists that dominate the individual lists, rather than independent creators. TV anchors typically have their own Facebook or X accounts, but their chat/debate shows tend to live within branded playlists, for example, on YouTube.
"Branded accounts of the biggest news organisations, GMA and ABS-CBN, are widely accessed, each attracting almost 30M followers on Facebook and 20M on YouTube. Facebook remains a critical network for news in the Philippines, though many younger creators and audiences are increasingly drawn to TikTok.”
The study clearly indicates that TV Patrol’s OG anchors are still some of the most accessible and watched journalists — Korina Sanchez Roxas who now anchors the daily newscast Agenda in the newcomer Bilyonaryo News Channel, but who also maintains a daily talk show Face yo Face on TV5 and a news magazine show Rated Korina on A2z; Noli de Castro who still anchors TVPatrol on A2Z, Mel Tiangco who is in GMA’s 24 Oras and Ted Failon now in 92.3 True FM radio.
These ABS-CBN-bred personalities were household names for decades with the then-largest network in the country, and today remain relevant and thriving even in the advent of social media and streaming platforms.
As with their counterparts in the field of entertainment, TV Patrol’s OGs are testaments of the staying power and lasting impact of ABS-CBN’s homegrown talents.
With decades of nationwide reach across multiple platforms, ABS-CBN created household names that Filipinos have come to trust, a feat not easily matched by today's numerous platforms with much smaller niche markets.
