BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) announced on Monday, Dec. 1, that power has been fully restored across its entire franchise area in central Negros Occidental, including this highly-urbanized city, after back-to-back disruptions caused by typhoons “Tino” and “Uwan” on Nov. 4 and 9.
As of Nov. 27, all lateral lines — 100 percent — had been re-energized, bringing electricity back to nearly 250,000 consumers.
In a statement, the NEPC said that Central Negros is steadily returning to normal after enduring damage inflicted by the two storms.
The company thanked government officials, barangay leaders, volunteers, augmentation teams, contractors, and linemen and technical crews, crediting their coordinated efforts for the accelerated restoration.
This achievement, NEPC said, embodies the “bayanihan” spirit, with communities and response teams working together to speed up recovery.
The company serves the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, and Bago, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin praised the company’s rapid and organized response in a social media post.
“We commend the Negros Power teams and the resilient communities who have united to restore electricity with extraordinary speed and safety, even in the wake of such devastating storms,” she said.
