Manila to release teacher allowances and laptops, television sets for public schools

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced that the city government will release on Monday, Dec. 1, the P45 million allowance for teachers for May and June.
The announcement was made during the regular flag-raising ceremony led by the Schools Division Office (SDO) Manila. 
The city government announced that it will release the P45 million allowance for teachers on Monday, covering the months of May and June.
The city continues to make progress in its program for digitizing public schools.
Beginning on Monday, the Manila City government said it will also distribute 397 laptops and 133 television sets to all public schools.
This initiative will allow every kindergarten classroom to become fully digitized, as each room will be equipped with one television and one laptop.
Meanwhile, Domagoso expressed his disappointment with certain members of the Manila Public School Teachers Association (MPSTA) who threatened to file complaints and hold rallies over the delayed allowance.
He stated, “Kaya ang sama ng loob ko, ito talaga, pinagdurugo ng puso ko. I don’t comply with blackmail. Bakit hindi n’yo idemanda ang nakaraang administrasyon nang hindi kayo nabibigyan (That is why I am really upset. This is what truly breaks my heart. I do not comply with blackmail. Why did you not file a case against the previous administration when you were not receiving anything)?”
He added, “I have no hard feelings with them. I owe it to the people of Manila kahit na nillingon ko ang taumbayan pinipilit ko din gampanan at tupdin yung aking aking obligayon sa mga kapwa kawani ng Lungsod ng Maynila (even as I face our citizens, I continue to fulfill my duty and my obligation to my fellow workers in the City of Manila).”
