Former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co (PPAB)
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday, Dec. 1, said that former Ako Bicol Party-list representative Zaldy Co's passport is not yet cancelled, contradicting Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla's pronouncement.
"The DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) has not received any court order instructing the cancellation of Zaldy Co's passport," the agency's spokesperson, Angelica Escalona, said.
DFA's clarification regarding Co's passport was sought after Remulla, in a press conference in Malacañang, expressed belief that Co's passport was already cancelled.
"Mayroon na. Ang pagkakaalam ko, na-cancel na iyong passport niya. Ang pagkakaalam ko lang ha (There's already a cancellation of his passport. As far as I know, his passport is already cancelled. That's what I know), but you can check again [with DFA]," he said.
Remulla also said Co is suspected to be in Portugal and possessing a Portuguese passport, giving the government some "complication" to arrest him over his alleged involvement in the anomalous flood control projects.
