"Shake, Rattle and Roll" is not just any film franchise. It is one of the longest franchises in Asia and in the world. Watching 'Shake' is like taking a trip to Philippine horror history," said Atty. Keith Monteverde, executive producer and executive vice president, Regal Entertainment, Inc., during the grand press conference for the horror movie held at Gateway Cinema in Araneta City recently. "In fact, I think 'Shake' is much older than some of the fans here."
Keith treasured the memory of the first time he watched "Shake" as a young boy. "In 1990, a seven-year-old boy watched his first horror movie in a theater with his grandmother. At that time, that was my first horror movie experience in a theater. It was my first 'Shake.' It was Regal's first 'Shake,' and it happened during the Metro Manila Film Festival. This 'Shake' was iconic because it had big stars like Janice De Belen, Manilyn Reynes, Carmina Villarroel, Joey Marquez, and Eddie Gutierrez."
Roselle Monteverde, the visionary CEO of Regal Entertainment, proudly proclaimed that 'Shake' has upheld a remarkable tradition of excellence in cinema for many years. This timeless classic has not only entertained audiences but has also set a gold standard in filmmaking that resonates through the years.

"Ang 'Shake' naging tradition na. So ano nga ba ang tradition? Tayo ba ay susunod sa tradition or dapat ba natin i-break? Pero ang 'Shake,' wala sa dalawa. (Shake' has become a tradition. So what is tradition? Should we follow tradition or should we break it? But 'Shake,' is neither)," she said.
Roselle added, "Ang tradition ng 'Shake,' is always excellence. That's our tradition for 'Shake, Rattle and Roll.' Every year, or maybe there were years when we were not able to produce 'Shake', kasi wala pa kaming naisip na concept. (Every year, or maybe there were years when we weren't able to produce 'Shake' because we hadn't thought of a concept yet.)"
"Mahirap mag isip at makabuo ng concept. Yung 'Shake' ngayon, nabuo ang concept nito two years ago. From brainstorming, napag-isipan namin kung ano ang takbo ng bagong 'Shake.' (It's hard to think and come up with a concept. The 'Shake' now, its concept was developed two years ago. From brainstorming, we were able to think about what the new 'Shake' would be like.)"
"Ano pa ba ang dapat nating gawin para maiba ang 'Shake?' So gawin nating connected. So connected silang tatlo. Hindi kayo pwedeng umalis ng sinehan ng hindi ninyo napapanood ang dulo or ang pangalawa at yung panghuli. (What else should we do to make 'Shake' different? So let's make it connected. So all three are connected. You can't leave the theater without watching the end or the second and the last one.)"

"Kaya ang excellence na sinasabi namin dito ay sa production value, technical aspects, sa storytelling, at sa ami ng mga direktor, design at sa mga artista. (So the excellence we're talking about here is in the production value, technical aspects, storytelling, and the quality of the directors, design, and the actors)," Roselle also said.
Roselle said that all "Shake" movies have been uploaded to YouTube, should the current generation love to watch the past movies.
"Nasa YouTube siya naka-upload lahat ng 'Shake' movies. We launched the 'Shake' marathon movies that will run for 36 hours. All of them are in digital format. Pero maganda pa naman siya. (It is still okay.) They still give us scares."
Debuted in 1984, "Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins" is the 17th installment in the horror anthology. The new "Shake" is divided into three segments: "1775,' starring Carla Abellana, Loisa Andalio, Ysabel Ortega, and Ashley Ortega; "2025," starring Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, Fyang Smith, and JM Ibarra; and "2055," starring Richard Gutierrez, Ivana Alawi, Dustin Yu, and Matt Lozano.

During the Q&A at the "Shake" conference, some of the stars discussed their "scary" dream roles if allowed to play those characters in other projects.
Ashley Ortega: "Gusto kong ma-experience maging 'Sadako.' Kasi pupunta ka sa set na hindi mo na kailangan lagyan ng makeup. Wala kang lines at boby movements ka lang. Gusto kong ma-experience yun. (I want to experience being 'Sadako.' Because you go on set and you don't have to put on makeup. You don't have lines, and you have body movements. I want to experience that.)"
Dustin Yu: "Parang okay yung kay Ashley. Nakapag-Zombie na ako. So gusto ko naman maging aswang. (It seems like Ashley's role is okay. I've already become a zombie. So I want to be an aswang.)"

Manilyn Reynes: "Gusto kong ma-portray na possessed. Nakakita na kasi ako ng totoong ganun. (I want to be portrayed as possessed. I've seen real people like that.)"
Pangarap kong maging 'Leatherface." (My dream is to have a character who is charming but psycho. Similar to 'Leatherface.)"
Seth Fedelin: "Kung pwede akong maging tiyanak. Kidding aside, gusto ko masubukan yung parang evil entity. (If I could be a baby monster. Kidding aside, I'd like to try out the evil entity.)"
(I want to be a witch. So that she has the power to split, fly, and go anywhere.)"
Carla Abellana: "Definitely, I want to play a serial killer. Mahilig ako sa mga psychological thriller. Mala-Ted Bundy ang peg. Nakulong din naman siya. (Definitely, I want to play a serial killer. I like psychological thrillers. The peg is like Ted Bundy. He was also imprisoned.)"
Richard Gutierrez: 'Horrific character? Siguro contractor. Joke lang! Gusto ko rin ma-try yung possessed character. (Maybe a contractor. Just kidding! I also want to try the possessed character.)"
