The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong has confirmed that a female overseas Filipino worker (OFW) died in the Tai Po fire incident.
The consulate made the confirmation in a statement on Saturday, Nov. 29.
"With great sadness, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong confirms the passing of an overseas Filipino worker from the Tai Po fire incident," the Philippine consulate said.
The consulate honored the Filipina's sacrifices and extended their condolences to her family.
"The Consulate General extends our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this trying time. May she rest in peace," the consulate stated.
Meanwhile, the Philippine consulate said it continues to check on the welfare of other OFWs affected by the tragic fire incident.
"The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong is presently continuing its on-the-ground operations to check the welfare of and assist overseas Filipino workers affected by the Tai Po fire incident," the consulate said.
According to the Consulate General mobile teams, 12 Filipino nationals are "left for verification."
As of Nov. 29, 79 Filipino nationals have been confirmed safe and accounted for, while one Filipino was injured.
