With the goal of providing nutritious snacks that help improve students’ health, focus, and overall academic performance, Makati City Mayor Nancy led the relaunch of Project FEED (Food for Excellent Education and Development) for the 2025 school year for learners in the city’s public schools.
Project FEED is a feeding program that provides healthy snacks to learners, which the city government implements in partnership with the Schools Division Office of Makati City.
The program resumed on Nov. 17, with the daily distribution of nutritious snacks in all public elementary and secondary schools within the city. It covers 32,123 learners from kindergarten to grade 12, including SPED learners.
The local government said that it provides healthy snacks and drinks for 30 feeding days, distributed every Monday to Friday, running until December 2025. It added that all items meet the nutritional standards set for school-aged learners.
It said that this year’s snacks include a variety of fresh juices such as pineapple, cucumber, calamansi, tomato, mango, carrot, passion fruit, guyabano, apple, and malungay. Students will also enjoy freshly baked treats like ensaymada, mamon roll, brownies, banana bars, kalabasa pie, butter choco chips, and marble slices.
“Alam naman natin na kapag busog at maayos ang lagay ng bata, mas nakakapag-focus sila sa klase. Mas attentive, mas engaged, at mas mabilis makaintindi ng aralin. Gusto natin na pagpasok nila sa school, handa sila at may energy sila para matuto (We all know that when children are well-fed and in good condition, they can focus better in class. They become more attentive, more engaged, and learn lessons faster. We want them to come to school ready and full of energy to learn)," the mayor said.
The mayor also said that the project helps ease the daily burden of parents, giving them peace of mind knowing that their children have access to nutritious food while in school. It also showed that the city continues to prioritize programs that help students stay healthy and ready to learn.
“Malaking tulong ang Project FEED sa araw-araw. Kahit papaano, nababawasan ang iniintindi ng mga magulang, at mas napapanatag sila na may masustansyang snacks para sa mga anak nila sa loob ng eskwelahan (Project FEED provides consistent support to families every day. It lightens the concerns of parents and reassures them that their children have access to healthy snacks while they are in school),” she said.
The mayor earlier led the Project FEED kickoff at San Antonio Village Elementary School and La Paz Elementary School.
Several members of the City Council also attended, including Councilors Joel Ariones, Mayeth Casal-Uy, Ferdie Eusebio, Dino Imperial, Arlene Ortega, Levy Ramboyong, Kristina Sarosa, Bernadette Sese, Bel Vitales, King Yabut Jr., and Tristan Pangilinan.
With the project, Binay shared that teachers have already observed positive changes in students, including better attendance and increased participation in class.
“Good nutrition really makes a difference. Nakikita natin na kapag hindi gutom ang bata, mas alive sila sa classroom at mas ganado mag-aral. Kaya tuloy-tuloy lang tayo sa mga ganitong programa (We see that when children are not hungry, they are more lively in the classroom and more motivated to learn. That is why we continue to push programs like this),” the mayor noted.
The city government said Project FEED remains one of the city's core education support programs, helping build a healthy, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for all public-school students.
