Mayor Francis reminds San Juan City officials: Serve the people with honesty, integrity
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora reminded city officials and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of San Juan to serve the people with honesty and integrity, as this is their way of showing their appreciation for the bravery of our heroes who fought for the freedom of the people and the country.
Zamora made the statement during the commemoration of the 162nd birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio on Sunday, Nov. 30, where he was joined by officials of the city government and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) at the Pinaglabanan Shrine.
"Yan po ang ating dapat isabuhay sa ating araw-araw na gawain dahil tayo ay pinagkatiwalaan ng ating mga mamamayan. Wag po nating sisirain ang tiwalang 'yun (That is what we should practice in our daily activities because our citizens have placed their trust in us. Let us not break that trust)," Zamora said.
"The people of San Juan had given their confidence and trust in us. Let us not waste this. We have been given the opportunity to serve; let us show everyone we deserve it," he added.
With the theme “Isang Bayan, Isang Laban: Katapatan at Katarungan Kontra Katiwalian,” Bonifacio Day in San Juan was commemorated with a flag-raising ceremony followed by a wreath-laying ceremony that included floral offerings from participating groups such as the United Architects of the Philippines; Department of Education – San Juan; Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan; Liga ng mga Barangay; representatives of various city government departments; representatives of the 1st and 2nd districts of the Sangguniang Panlungsod; Vice Mayor Angelo Agcaoili; NHCP Deputy Executive Director Rosario Sapitan; and Rep. Ysabel Maria J. Zamora.
A gun salute was also held honoring Bonifacio's legacy and heroism.
