A man wearing a face covering and carrying a chako was stopped, advised, and escorted away by officers from the Manila Police District along Recto Avenue, Manila, on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Authorities clarified that the man was alone and not linked to any of the groups holding anti-corruption protests in the area.
Police reminded the public not to bring dangerous objects into public spaces and not to cover their faces in public to prevent potential incidents.
The MPD also urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to help ensure the safety of Manila’s main roads.
They emphasized the importance of alertness, especially with the increased number of demonstrators and expected road closures on major thoroughfares such as Recto Avenue and nearby streets.
