G-Dragon, Stray Kids bag grand prizes on Day 2 of 2025 MAMA Awards in Hong Kong
Big Bang’s G-Dragon and K-pop boy band Stray Kids took home the grand prizes on the second day of the 2025 MAMA Awards held on Nov. 29 in Hong Kong.
The 2025 MAMA Awards ceremony was held on Nov. 28 and 29 in Hong Kong amid the fire at the Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po that killed 128 people.
The Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong announced on Nov. 29 that one Filipino worker died in the fire.
The 2025 MAMA Awards ceremony was held at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong and attended by Korean artists. Korean actress Kim Hye-soo acted as the emcee and Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat was a presenter on the second day.
On the second day, G-Dragon won the Visa Artist of the Year, one of the grand prizes. He also won Best Dance Performance (Male Solo) and Best Male Artist.
"Thank you. I made a comeback through 'MAMA' last year, but this year's activities seem different from any other time. It's a day that I'm so happy, but it's also a sad day, and I'm going through a lot of mixed emotions,” said G-Dragon.
He added, “Next year, our group will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. I will come and party with my friends so I won't be lonely. See you next year.”
Stray Kids won the grand prize for Album of the Year, the first time that they received a grand prize at MAMA Awards.
"The path we've walked hasn't been easy. There were so many crossroads along the way. I think it's because of the countless choices and worries we've had along the way that we're able to be the eight of us here today,” said Stray Kids.
Aespa won three awards: Best Choreography, Best Dance Performance (Female Group), and Best Female Group.
