Gucci pays homage to Italian craftsmanship with its Cruise 2026 collection
By Rey Ilagan
Gucci embarks on a rebirth with its Cruise 2026 collection, one that takes the House back to its spiritual birthplace: Florence, Italy. It feels fitting—almost poetic—that this chapter unfolds where fashion itself was shaped. Florence has long been the cradle of craft, a city where centuries of textile mastery have allowed each new generation to build, innovate, and push forward while remaining anchored to its past.
Unveiled inside the Gucci Archive at Palazzo Settimanni, the collection bridges heritage and modernity with a playful ease. Though officially attributed to the in-house studio team—who also delivered the fall-winter 2025 season—subtle traces of new creative director Demna Gvasalia’s aesthetic punctuated the lineup.
Josh Boutwood, Binh Wong, and Alessandro Bello
In Manila on Nov. 18, Gucci echoed the spirit of its Florentine showcase with a festive holiday luncheon at the newly awarded two-Michelin-star Helm by Chef Josh Boutwood in Makati City. The intimate gathering felt like a warm nod to the brand’s heritage-rich presentation in Florence, an atmosphere steeped in craft, connection, and celebration.
Following lunch, guests were ushered to the Gucci Greenbelt 4 boutique for an exclusive preview of the Cruise 2026 pieces. Alessandro Belloli, general manager for Gucci Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Guam, welcomed everyone to the luncheon alongside Binh Wong, Gucci market director, and Valerie Tan, Gucci communications associate director.
Celebrities and personalities Anne Curtis, Marian Rivera, Pia Wurtzbach, James Reid, Kylie Verzosa, Janine Gutierrez, BJ Pascual, Mond Gutierrez, Tim Yap, Bella Racelis, and Jarren Garcia brought the collection to life, showcasing an opulent lineup of expertly treated brocades, jacquards, silks, and velvets, with lace rendered in layered, strass-embellished, and richly embroidered forms.
Up close, the House codes revealed themselves with quiet confidence: the GG Monogram, a bold single G on belt buckles and heels, and leather goods that marked an evolution of Gucci’s core. Archival precision met contemporary softness in standout accessories, including a half-Horsebit design, a new vanity-style bag, and the emblematic Gucci Giglio bag.
Gucci is located at Greenbelt 4, Makati City.
