The Eastern Police District (EPD) and the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said that they are fully prepared to maintain order and security for the second part of the anti-corruption protest, the “Trillion Peso March,” on Sunday, Nov. 30.
The EPD said it is prepared for the expected influx of participants, particularly around the EDSA Shrine, and will implement strict security measures to ensure order and public safety.
“Kasabay nito, mariin naming irerespeto ang karapatan ng publiko sa malayang pagpapahayag, alinsunod sa itinatakda ng batas (At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to respect the public’s right to free expression in accordance with the law),” it said.
It added that maximum tolerance will be observed toward all individuals expressing their views, as long as they remain peaceful and follow established guidelines.
It also urged the public to remain calm, avoid actions that may cause disturbance, and comply with laws and advisories from authorities to ensure a safe and orderly event.
To ensure full readiness, on Nov. 28, the EPD conducted a simultaneous accounting of its personnel from the PaMaMariSan (Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan) Police Stations and the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB) at their respective headquarters, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining order and security.
During the accounting, officers were briefed on their roles and responsibilities, emphasizing respect for human rights, maximum tolerance, and proper application of the law during the security operations.
Meanwhile, the Rizal PPO on Saturday, Nov. 29, held a send-off ceremony for its Civil Disturbance Management contingents, led by Provincial Director Col. Feloteo A. Gonzalgo, to show the preparedness and unity of the Rizal police.
About 300 personnel from different units and stations of the Rizal PPO will be deployed to provide security, crowd control, and peacekeeping support during the protest.
The activity also included the presentation of equipment, mobility assets, protective gear, and communication devices that will be used to ensure smooth operations and quick response to any situation.
Gonzalgo emphasized that their participation will uphold maximum tolerance, respect for human rights, and professional police conduct, in line with the PNP’s mandate to safeguard peace and security in public gatherings.
The protests are fueled by revelations of alleged corruption in government flood control projects.
