TACLOBAN CITY – Over 3,000 police officers have been deployed to secure the Trillion Peso March in Eastern Visayas region on Nov. 30.
Police Regional Office-8 director Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy said they are on full alert since Nov. 28 to strengthen operational readiness across Eastern Visayas.
Personnel from the city and provincial police offices and regional support units were tasked to carry out essential operations, including crowd control, traffic management, mobile patrols, Police Assistance Desks (PADs), checkpoints, and border control.
All personnel have been accounted for.
Quick response teams (QRTs), regional standby support force (RSSF), and civil disturbance management (CDM) contingents have been strategically positioned in major urban areas such as Tacloban and Ormoc cities to ensure rapid response to any emerging situation.
Capoy underscored PRO-8’s commitment to security and civil liberties.
“While we ensure the safety and security of all participants, we fully respect the people’s inherent right to freedom of expression. Our personnel are instructed to exercise maximum tolerance and uphold human rights at all times.”
He appealed for public cooperation so that the Trillion Peso March in Eastern Visayas will remain peaceful, orderly, and safe for all.
