12K cops to secure Nov. 30 anti-corruption rally in Manila; NCRPO to add 4K more
The Manila Police District (MPD) on Thursday announced that it is preparing for large crowds expected to join the second anti-corruption rally in the city on Nov. 30, with at least 12,000 MPD personnel set for deployment.
MPD Spokesman Maj. Philipp Ines said the district’s full complement would be augmented by additional teams from Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4A (Calabarzon), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
He added that another 4,000 police officers from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) would also be assigned to Manila to further strengthen the security force for the event.
“We expect a lot of groups to attend the Nov. 30 rally,” Ines said, noting that the significant police presence aims to ensure peace and order throughout the protest.
Ines identified several critical and high-risk areas, including Mendiola, the US Embassy, and the vicinity of Malacañang, which are expected to face heavy foot traffic, congestion, and possible security challenges during the protest.
He noted that labor groups, civic organizations, and civil society groups are among those expected to participate in large numbers.
