Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, the hospitality arm of Megaworld, has partnered with global hospitality group Accor to convert the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, which will become the largest Mövenpick hotel in the world.
The 19-story, two-tower Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will rise within Megaworld’s 31-hectare Westside City township in Entertainment City, Parañaque. A sky bridge will connect the hotel to the Westside City integrated casino and entertainment complex, as well as to the country’s first Grand Opera House and future performance venues envisioned to position Manila as the “Broadway of Asia.”
Garth Simmons, chief operating officer for Accor’s Premium, Midscale, and Economy Division in Asia, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, saying, “Our partnership with Megaworld represents an important step in strengthening Accor’s footprint in the Philippines, a market that continues to demonstrate strong momentum in both international and domestic travel. Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will stand as a flagship for our premium portfolio, supported by Accor’s global network and the reach of ALL Accor, which together help drive visibility and demand across key markets.”
He added, “This landmark hotel reflects our shared ambition to bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of the country’s most dynamic destinations. We are proud to collaborate with Megaworld on a project that will contribute meaningfully to the Philippines’ tourism growth.”
The agreement with Accor covers brand alignment, systems integration, and operational upgrades set for completion next year, preparing Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside to open before the end of 2026. Andrew Langdon, chief development officer for Asia at Accor, said the partnership supports the company’s owner-focused strategy, ensures the right brand fits the right market, and strengthens the visibility of its premium portfolio through ALL Accor. He added that the collaboration reflects Accor’s confidence in the Philippines’ growing tourism sector, where increasing visitor arrivals and strong domestic travel continue to create opportunities for long-term premium growth.
This partnership follows their earlier joint project between the two groups, following the successful conversion of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu. With Accor’s global expertise—supported by brands like Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel, Pullman, and Mercure—Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside is positioned to benefit from the group’s operational strength, guest service standards, and global reservation network, while upholding the Sampaguita brand of hospitality that defines Megaworld Hotels and Resorts.
