The town of Cainta in Rizal Province has begun several activities lined up for this year’s Sumbingtik Festival.
The office of Mayor Johnielle “Kit” Nieto said the 11th SumBingTik Festival 2025 will be highlighted with a grand float parade along the town’s major streets on November 30 at 4 p.m.
Running until the end of the month is the SumBingTik house decoration contest, featuring façades along Sto. Niño Street adorned with native delicacies-suman, bibingka, latik, and other desserts and snacks traditionally produced in Cainta.

Food bazaars, known as “Pondahan,” are also a major crowd attraction. Held nightly at the Cainta Municipal grounds, they offer a wide assortment of food and non-food items, drawing visitors from within and outside the municipality.
The celebration of Cainta's rich culture and tradition began in 2014, marking the town's founding anniversary on December 1, which coincides with the feast day of its patroness, Our Lady of Light.
The tradition of making the delicacies dates back to the 1760s, when Sepoy soldiers -- Indian soldiers in the British Army -- intermingled with the locals and introduced their culinary heritage during the Seven Years' War.
Other entertainment and cultural related activities are also lined up throughout the month, including the wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Gat. Andres Bonifacio on November 30, and the feast day of Saint Andrew the Apostle, one of the town's original patron saints.
The municipal government has issued an advisory on road closures during the festivities.
