Facing third-seeded PLDT, which boasts of depth and championship experience after ruling the On Tour and the Invitational Conference, ZUS Coffee refused to be intimidated. The Thunderbelles instead showcased remarkable cohesion, with DeBeer working in sync with Chinnie Arroyo and setter Cloane Mondonedo.
So potent was ZUS Coffee’s offense that it unleashed 59 attacks, far outgunning PLDT’s 37.
The Thunderbelles also managed to weather PLDT’s stifling net defense anchored by Majoy Baron and Mika Reyes, who combined for seven of the team’s 11 blocks.
Arroyo backed up DeBeer with 14 points -- all coming from attacks -- while veterans Jovelyn Gonzaga and Thea Gagate added seven and six points, respectively.
PLDT’s dynamic duo of Anastasiia Bavykina and Savi Davison finished with 16 and 15 points, but their efforts were not enough to send them to the championships.
The finals showdown is set on Sunday, Nov. 30, at the same venue.
