When and where to venerate St. Carlo Acutis' relic during its Philippine visit
Acutis' pericardium relic to begin 18-day pilgrimage from Nov. 27

The pericardium heart relic of Saint Carlo Acutis will arrive in the Philippines on Thursday, Nov. 27, beginning an 18-day pilgrimage that will bring the first-class relic to more than 30 churches in 16 dioceses across Luzon, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced on its website.
Public veneration will start on Friday, Nov. 28, at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Malolos Cathedral) in Malolos City, Bulacan, where a 9 a.m. Mass will mark the opening of the Philippine leg of the relic tour, according to organizers from the Diocese of Assisi and the Friends of St. Carlo Acutis—Philippines (FSCAPh).
Msgr. Anthony Figueiredo, who oversees Acutis’ international relic pilgrimages on behalf of the Diocese of Assisi, said the visit was planned to highlight the saint’s example of faith in a digital age.
The youthful Italian, canonized in September, gained acclaim for using internet platforms to promote Eucharistic devotion and share testimonies of alleged Eucharistic miracles.
Acutis died in 2006 at age 15.
His canonization made him the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint, a milestone Vatican officials said resonated especially with young Catholics.
“Young people, you are all invited to come and venerate the relic of St. Carlo Acutis,” Figueiredo said in a message recorded beside the saint’s tomb in Assisi.
“To love what awaits us tomorrow is to give today the best of our fruit,” he also quoted one of Acutis’ reflections.
Bishop Dennis Villarojo of Malolos, episcopal promoter of FSCAPh, said hosting the relic highlights the importance of presenting Acutis’ message of a faith rooted in Eucharistic devotion, service, and simplicity.
“It is a great blessing for our diocese to be part of the visit of St. Acutis’ relic,” he said.
He also urged the faithful to take the opportunity to deepen their spiritual lives.
The relic, measuring six centimeters long and two centimeters high, is enshrined in a reliquary maintained by the Diocese of Assisi, custodian of Acutis’ remains.
Organizers said that proper veneration protocols have been arranged with each hosting diocese to ensure order and reverence, including Masses, prayer services, and times for silent veneration.
