House Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos is voluntarily submitting himself to the investigation of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI).
In a letter addressed to ICI Chairman and retired Supreme Court (SC) associate justice Andres Reyes Jr., Rep. Marcos said: "Let me state this clearly and without hesitation: I am wiling to appear before the Commission at any time. I welcome the opportunity to shed light on any matter that may assist your review."
The letter was marked received by the ICI at 8:56 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27.
Rep. Marcos posted the letter on his Facebook, along with the caption: "Regardless of position and who you are, no one is above the law. Given that I have nothing to hide, I hereby submit myself for investigation by the ICI at their earliest convenience."
Rep. Marcos made the announcement just two days after former Ako-Bicol Party-list representative Zaldy Co accused him of having an accumulated P50.938 billion worth of project insertions in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 national budgets.
"I extend my full respect to the work of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure and its efforts to uncover the truth behind the ongoing investigation on flood control projects," the presidential son said in his letter.
"I stand ready to cooperate, answer questions, and provide any clarification needed to move this investigation forward.
"Please inform my office of the schedule you deem appropriate. You have my commitment that I will be there," Rep. Marcos further told the ICI.
