Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the Pasay Day celebration kicked off with “Padyak Pasay: Pedal Forward” on Nov. 22, held at SM By the Bay, SM Mall of Asia.
Rubiano said the activity, which is in its fourth year, was attended by hundreds of bike enthusiasts, showing that biking is a stress reliever, a way to stay fit, a time for family bonding, and an economical means of transportation for some.
She added that the giant Christmas tree in front of the Pasay City Hall will be lit on Nov. 28, followed by a gift-giving activity for 162 children from different barangays in the city.
On Dec. 1, the mayor said the city’s traditional parade of lights and street dance competition will also be held, engaging residents in fun and celebration.
Rubiano said the activities prepared by the city government are also a way to recognize the city’s continuous growth and resilience over the years.
She also encouraged residents to participate in the celebration, saying the annual Pasay Day is not only a commemoration of the city’s founding but also a reminder of the community’s unity and shared aspirations.
