Mayor Isko, PBBM lead opening of new health and housing facilities in Manila
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso unveiled a series of major health and housing facilities in the city on Thursday, Nov. 27, highlighting Manila’s rapid expansion of public services through new laboratories, clinics, hospitals, and in-city housing projects.
Manila Public Health Laboratory
Domagoso showed the president the newly built Manila Public Health Laboratory on Quiricada St., Sta. Cruz.
The four story facility serves as the city’s central laboratory for disease testing, drug testing, and various clinical examinations.
Domagoso said the city continues to work hard to meet the “minimum basic needs," stressing that improving facilities is essential to providing “de kalidad na serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga (quality health services for) Manileños.”
Felina Lanuza Health Center
After the inauguration of the San Lazaro Residences, Domagoso also toured the President inside the Felina Lanuza Health Center, located on the ground floor of the housing complex.
The two story center has a Surgical Room, Sterilization Room, Treatment and Physician’s Room, Dental Room, Supply Room, Clinical Laboratory and Adolescent Room.
Domagoso said the city is committed to “pagandahin at paghusayin ang mga pangkalusugang pasilidad upang makapagbigay ng mas maayos at mas de kalidad na serbisyong medikal (to improve and enhance health facilities in order to provide better and higher-quality medical services).”
Housing Raffle
President Marcos Jr. led the raffle for the first set of beneficiaries of the San Lazaro Residences.
The five winners were Raynan Lachica, Helen Indino, Evangeline Castaneda, Francis San Andres, and Emmalyn Valencia.
The next draw for qualified walk-in applicants is scheduled on Dec. 15.
Baseco Hospital Visit
At the President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital in Baseco, President Marcos praised the city’s progress in public healthcare, saying:
“Kaya’t napakapalad po natin na meron tayong Mayor Isko (That’s why we are very fortunate to have Mayor Isko).”
He noted that the barangay hospital’s facilities are comparable to, and in some cases, better than those of provincial hospitals.
Since opening its OPD on September 5, the Baseco Hospital has served hundreds of patients and facilitated PhilHealth enrollment for 19,666 residents through the city’s YAKAP Program.
Marcos Jr. also joined Domagoso in distributing school bags to over 1,500 kindergarten and Grade 1 students at Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Elementary School.
San Lazaro Residences Model for Future Housing
During the inauguration, President Marcos Jr. said of the project:
“Kapag nakita ng ibang LGU ito, gagayahin ito asahan mo, dahil napakagandang modelo itong ginawa ninyo (When other LGUs see this, they will copy it, you can be sure of that, because you have created a very good model)."
Domagoso said he was glad the housing program inspired the President and affirmed his readiness to share Manila’s model to help improve government housing nationwide.
