Lighting of two giant Christmas trees ushers in Pasko sa Antipolo 2025

The lighting of two giant Christmas trees, situated in separate busy spots, officially marked the Christmas celebration in Antipolo City.
Mayor Casimoro "Junjun" Ynares III, together with other local officials and his wife, former City Mayor Andrea "Andeng" Ynares, led the switch-on ceremony that illuminated the 50-foot-tall holiday tree at Sumulong Park fronting the city hall and the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City, Rizal Province.

The city government said the Christmas tree is made up of around 20,000 recyclable materials, the majority of which are plastic bottles shaped into flowers and butterflies.

Beneath the giant Christmas tree is an interactive digital attraction where one can walk through and take photos inside the area.
Beside the towering tree are dancing fountains that sprout water from the ground.
GMA singer and actress Julie Ann San Jose performed several songs before the lighting ceremony.
Prior to the illumination, Vice Mayor Randy Puno led an oath to protect the environment through ecological initiatives.
A separate giant Christmas tree lighting event happened outside the CMA Market in Lower Antipolo ahead of the activity at Sumulong Park.
A grand fire works display followed as the eco-friendly holiday trees were illuminated with LED lights one after the other.
The lighting events ushered in the Antipolo City Fiesta and Christmas 2025 activities.
Parks and intersections in the city are also decorated with eco-inspired Christmas display.

Several activities are lined up for the coming days and weeks leading to the city fiesta on Dec. 8 and the holiday season.
The display of giant eco-friendly and inspired Christmas trees in Rizal towns and city is in-lined with the pro-environment program of the provincial government, the Ynares to Eco System to Green (YES) program, which advocates the use of recyclable garbage materials.
