Kymani Ladi remains committed to play for the national team despite the circumstances surrounding his entry in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
With Ateneo’s UAAP Season 88 campaign officially over, Ladi has set his sights on a possible stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the biennial event Thailand is hosting next month.
As thrilled and honored as he is to wear the tricolors, Ladi, a one-and-done forward for the Blue Eagles, is actually waiting for the confirmation of his participation with the Thai organizers implementing stringent rules for players.
“I’m not really sure, so I don’t want to give any input as much [as I want to],” said Ladi moments after Ateneo bowed out of the Final Four contention with a 78-72 loss to rival De La Salle University at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“We’re still waiting for a couple of factors right now, but if it goes through, I’m ready to play,” he added.
The 23-year-old wingman revealed that he has sent all the necessary documents to support his entry as a Filipino local but has yet to receive a green light.
But regardless of the decision, the versatile wingman was already honored to have his talent recognized and considered for the Nationals.
“It’s an honor, and thank God, Ateneo, for putting me in this position. I think it's a tough ride this season, but I’m grateful for this opportunity,” Ladi continued.
