Go Digital Philippines names fintech lawyer as new chairman

Go Digital Philippines (GDP), formerly known as Go Digital Pilipinas, has appointed technology and fintech lawyer Mark S. Gorriceta as its new chairman.
Gorriceta is the chairman and managing partner of Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra, and a leading adviser to several of the country’s top technology firms.
Outgoing chairperson Ayhee Campos, who also heads the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), welcomed the appointment, saying that Gorriceta’s background will be crucial to GDP’s next phase.
“As we transition into Go Digital Philippines, we are doubling down on our mission to empower every Filipino through technology,” Campos said in a statement.
“With Atty. Gorriceta at the helm, we’re positioned to scale our impact and champion the structural reforms that matter for making the Philippines a true global digital hub,” she added.
Campos led the early groundwork for GDP’s national movement, shaping its strategic direction and positioning the organization as a key platform linking the private sector and government.
Gorriceta joins a board of trustees that includes Campos, Donald Patrick Lim, June Cheryl “Chaye” Cabral-Revilla, Jonathan Juan “JJ” D. Moreno, Maria Corazon D. Purisima, and Mishy Co.
GDP’s mission aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.
The initiative stemmed from a private sector task force convened by the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC)—Digital Infrastructure. Henry Aguda, now secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), led PSAC’s digital group during GDP’s formation and remains a key proponent of digital inclusion.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also cited Go Digital Philippines as a flagship initiative during his hologram address at the 2023 Singapore FinTech Festival, where he urged global fintech leaders to invest in the country.
To advance its agenda, GDP recently hosted a roundtable with more than 30 industry leaders to identify obstacles to digital adoption and competitiveness.
The discussions centered on reforms to support startups, streamline business registration, and boost innovation programs of local government units.
GDP has begun implementing grassroots initiatives with partner organizations, including the ongoing deployment of more than P3 million worth of laptops to underserved communities with the Aboitiz Foundation and the DICT, and the recent staging of the Cashless Expo at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
By 2035, the organization aims to help build a fully inclusive digital nation anchored on five pillars: policy, access, capabilities, entrepreneurship, and security.
