Miss Universe owner Raul Rocha 'fed up' with controversies, plans to sell stake, says reports
Raul Rocha, president of the Miss Universe Organization, has announced his intention to sell his stake following weeks of controversy surrounding the international pageant, according to people.com.
On Nov. 24, Raul spoke with Mexican journalist Adela Micha about the Miss Universe competition, which took place in Bangkok on Nov. 21. This interview addressed several recent allegations of misconduct involving the organization.
During the conversation, conducted in Spanish, Raul clarified his position as both the president and a 50 percent shareholder of Miss Universe. He expressed that he is "looking for someone to pass it on to," adding, "This is like a test, like a relay race. Who do I pass the baton to?"
When Adela asked why he had changed his mind since acquiring the pageant in January 2024, Raul responded, "I'm just so fed up. I'm so fed up with all the talk. I don't involve myself in that kind of thing."
Raul went on to express his frustration, noting that although he is "the owner, the proprietor, the president" of the organization, "everyone wants to have an opinion" about the business.
"They want to come and tell you what decisions to make, how to make them, why you hire or fire people, and why you add or remove people," the Mexican businessman stated.
