BAGUIO CITY – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported on Wednesday that damage caused by super typhoon ‘’Uwan’’ in Kalinga has increased to P1.37 billion.
A total of 12,646 families or 54,561 individuals were affected. Almost 2,000 houses were damaged, 82 totally.
Damage to property was P19.5 million; agriculture, P81.2 million; agricultural infrastructure, P272.1 million; machinery, P910,000; public infrastructure, P992.4 million; poultry, P29.3 million, and livelihood, P704,945.
Five fatalities were recorded – four from a landslide and one from drowning.
Provincial authorities said the extent of damage may continue to increase as local government units complete their assessments, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The public was urged to closely coordinate with local officials for assistance, advice, and ongoing relief operations.
