JBC opens applications, recommendations for 2 associate justice posts at Sandiganbayan, CTA
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has opened the applications or recommendations for two associate justice posts at the Sandiganbayan and the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA)
The Sandiganbayan post was vacated last Sept. 1 with the appointment of Associate Justice Theresa Dolores C. Gomez-Estoesta as court administrator whose office exercises administrative supervision for the Supreme Court (SC) over all lower courts in the country.
At the CTA, the post of Associate Justice Catherine T. Manahan will be vacated on Jan. 2, 2026 with her compulsory retirement.
The JBC is a constitutional office that accepts, screens, and nominates appointments in the judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman and its deputies, and members of the Legal Education Board.
It is headed by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as ex-officio chairperson.
The deadline for the applications or recommendations will be on Jan. 12, 2026.
Applications or recommendation can be submitted online through JBC O.R.A.S – www.portal.judiciary.gov.ph.
JBC ex-officio secretary, SC Clerk of Court Marife M. Lomibao-Cuevas, said those with existing JBC O.R.A.S. profiles are reminded to update their data and information, and to complete additional fields when applicable.
The qualifications of applicants will be reckoned as of the date of the applications, Lomibao-Cuevas also said.
