Filipino singer Gwyn Dorado enters top 16 on Korean TV show 'Sing Again 4'

Filipino singer and contestant No. 59 Gwyn Dorado wowed the judges again to enter the top 16 on JTBC’s Korean singing competition TV show “Sing Again 4.” 

“Sing Again 4” is a music audition TV show that gives singers a second chance to sing again on stage. The show had 81 contestants from the start and after three rounds, the top 16 were selected. 

This season’s judges are Lim Jae-beom, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Eana, Kyuhyun of Super Junior, Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, Lee Hae-ri and Code Kunst. 

In episode 7 of “Sing Again 4” that aired on JTBC on Nov. 25, contestants faced off to determine who would advance to the fourth round. 

Dorado, 20, who had the right to nominate, chose contestant No. 23 (Sanha) as her opponent. Dorado sang "One Late Night in 1994," a song by Korean singer Jang Hye-jin. 

Judge and singer Yoon Jong-shin praised Dorado’s performance, saying, “The producer's dreamlike voice has appeared. I feel like I've met another big-name singer."

Contestant No. 23 performed "The Day She First Cried” by singer Lee Jung-sun. 

In the end, Dorado defeated Sanha, getting five votes out of the eight judges: Kim Eana, Baek Ji-young, Yoon Jong-shin, Kyuhyun and Taeyeon. 

Sanha got three votes coming from Lim Jae-beom, Code Kunst and Lee Hae-ri. Despite her defeat, Sanha advanced to the next round by getting an additional pass from the judges.

The 16 contestants who advanced to the fourth round are Gwyn Dorado (No. 59), Sanha (No. 23), Kong Yoojin (No. 17), Kyuri (No. 18), Lee Sangwoong (No. 19), sEODo (No. 26), Seohee (No. 27),  Choi Jeong-cheol (No. 28), Darin (No. 30), Kim Jae-min (No. 37), Han Seong-il (No. 44), Lee Young-hoon (No. 55), Gongwon (No. 61), Lee Oh-wook (No. 65), Kim Jong-han (No. 76), and Kim Ye-chan (No. 80). 

In addition, the show released Dorado’s performance of "One Late Night in 1994" on various music streaming sites on Nov. 26 along with two other tracks. 

Episode 8 of “Sing Again 4” will air on Dec. 2.
