A 22-year-old man was arrested for selling unregistered firearms during an entrapment operation in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City, on Monday night, Nov. 24.

The suspect, identified as “Pene,” was nabbed at around 9:20 p.m. inside a fast-food restaurant at the corner of EDSA and Evangelista Street by a joint team led by the Southern Police District-District Special Operations Unit (SPD-DSOU), with support from operatives of the District Intelligence Division (DID), the District Mobile Force Battalion Intelligence Section, and Sub-Station 4 (Bangkal) of the Makati City Police Station (CPS).

The SPD said the operation stemmed from a report from a confidential informant regarding the illegal sale of unregistered firearms in the area, a clear violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Confiscated from him were a silver .45-caliber Norinco pistol, a magazine for the firearm, seven rounds of live .45-caliber ammunition, a cellular phone, and a brown paper bag. He also failed to present any documents authorizing him to sell or possess the firearm.

He was brought to the DSOU office for documentation. He underwent physical and medical examinations at Pasay City General Hospital.

The seized firearm has been forwarded to the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) for ballistics testing and registration verification to determine if it was used in other crimes.

The SPD will also conduct an intensive investigation to determine whether the suspect were involved in other illegal activities.
