TACLOBAN CITY – The Regional Inter-Agency Coordination Cell (RIACC) 8 Task Force San Juanico, led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Eastern Visayas, has announced the conclusion of the RIACC Libreng Sakay program.
Launched on June 18, 2025, the program assisted commuters affected by transport restrictions on the San Juanico Bridge.
The program provided free Roll-on, Roll-off (RORO) transport operations from Tacloban City Port to Amandayehan Port in Basey, Samar.
“As the contracted service period comes to an end, the program is currently down to its last 19 remaining trips, with full operations expected to conclude approximately on Nov. 30, 2025,” the announcement stated.
“With the improved availability of commercial transport services and the anticipated adjustment of the bridge's load limit, mobility conditions across affected routes have begun to stabilize, signaling the completion of the initiative,” the announcement added.
RIACC-8 assured the public of continued commitment to monitoring the transport situation in the region and will continue coordinating with partner agencies to ensure safe, accessible, and reliable transportation for all.
