'Sumuko na kayo': Speaker Dy echoes PBBM's call for flood control project mess suspects to surrender

House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III has amplified President Marcos' call for those involved in the flood control projects corruption scandal to voluntarily turn themselves in and cooperate with authorities.
Dy, Marcos' party-mate over at the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), had this to say Monday morning, Nov. 24 following Malacañang's announcement that seven individuals are now in custody.
"Suportado natin ang panawagan ng Pangulo na makipagtulungan at sumuko ang lahat ng sangkot. Paalala rin na may pananagutan sa batas ang sinumang nagkukubli o humahadlang sa pag-usad ng mga hakbang na ito," said Dy.
(We support the President’s call for all those involved to cooperate and surrender. It is also a reminder that anyone who conceals or obstructs the progress of these measures will be held accountable under the law.)
"Ayon mismo kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., anumang posibleng kaso ay dapat nakabatay sa kabuuang ebidensya, at ang Ombudsman ay dapat tumugon sa direksyong itinuturo nito. Sumasang-ayon tayo rito, dahil ang ebidensya ang dapat maging batayan ng pananagutan," the Isabela 6th district congressman said.
(According to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself, any possible case must be based on the totality of evidence, and the Ombudsman must respond in the direction that such evidence points to. We agree with this, because accountability must be grounded on evidence.)
"Ibinalita rin ng Pangulo na pito sa may warrant of arrest kaugnay ng anomalya sa flood-control projects ang nasa kustodiya na, dalawa ang nakahandang sumuko, at pito pa—kabilang si G. Zaldy Co—ang nananatiling at large," Dy noted.
(The President also reported that seven individuals with warrants of arrest related to anomalies in flood-control projects are already in custody, two are prepared to surrender, and seven more—including Mr. Zaldy Co—remain at large.)
Co, a former Ako-Bicol Party-list representative, served as Committee on Appropriations chairman during the previous 19th Congress. He is a key personality in the flood control projects mess and alleged budget insertions.
Co is currently in hiding abroad.
Dy said he respects the action taken by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in bringing the matter to the Office of the Ombudsman.
"Mula pa sa simula, malinaw ang ating paninindigan na igalang ang ICI at bigyan ito ng buong pagkakataong gampanan ang kanyang mandato. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit hindi na itinuloy ng Kamara ang kahalintulad na imbestigasyon upang hayaan ang ICI na makapagtrabaho nang tuluy-tuloy."
(From the very beginning, our position has been clear: to respect the ICI and give it the full opportunity to carry out its mandate. This is the reason why the House did not pursue a similar investigation, in order to allow the ICI to work continuously.)
"Nanatili ang ating paninindigan: igalang ang proseso at suportahan ang mga institusyong may tungkulin alamin ang buong katotohanan—upang managot ang dapat managot at makamit ang tunay na hustisya para sa ating mga kababayan," the House leader further said.
