Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said on Monday, November 24 that the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is ready to release a partial report on its investigation on the anomalous government flood control projects.
“We will file a partial committee report, based on the information so far gathered during the previous hearings,” Lacson told reporters in an interview at the sidelines of the Senate’s deliberation on the 2026 budget.
When asked when the blue ribbon committee plans to continue its hearing, the Senate blue ribbon committee chairman said they will wait for the plenary debates on the 2026 budget to close before holding another one or two hearings.
“As we speak, it’s being crafted now. Once it’s done, after the budget debates here, then it can be sponsored on the floor,” said Lacson.
Lacson assured the Senate is far from wrapping up its investigation into anomalous government infrastructure projects, as they will also tackle other questionable projects, “not necessarily flood control.”
In a separate interview, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said he believes it is best for the blue ribbon panel to stop its flood control probe and giving the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), and other government agencies the upper hand in investigating the issue.
“We’re too focused on flood control…we have to wrap it up because time is running. So what would be the purpose?” Tulfo said.
“There’s also the ICI. It might look like we’re interfering with their job. So let’s give everything to the ICI,” he said.
