President Marcos said there is no bad blood between him and former executive secretary Lucas Bersamin, following the latter's exit from the Cabinet last week.
In a press conference on Monday afternoon, Nov. 24, Marcos has put the issue to rest, saying they have already talked and all is fine.
"Nag-usap na kami (We have talked). We understand each other, and we decided to keep it between ourselves. There's no bad blood, there's no acrimonious feeling. That's fine," Marcos said when asked why Bersamin was told to exit the Cabinet.
Bersamin has also disclosed that he and the President met and talked on the same day, Nov. 17, the Malacanang announced that he has resigned from his post out of delicadeza after his office was linked to the flood control anomalies.
The former executive secretary later revealed that he did not resign, contrary to the announcement made by the Malacañang, baring that he was actually told to exit.
Meanwhile, the President also made a statement on the resignation of former Department of Budget and Management (DBM) secretary Amenah Pangandaman, who also resigned out of delicadeza.
He said her resignation was a move to ensure that she would not be in a position to be suspected of influencing any investigation related to the flood control irregularities.
"Si Sec. Mina, because her name was dragged into the whole thing. You know it makes clear that whatever is going on, kung ano mang kwestyunin, kung ano man ang mangyayari (whatever will be questioned, whatever happens, we want to be sure that she's not in a position where she might be suspected of influencing all that)," Marcos said.
"Kasi when she's out of government, wala na siyang impluwensiya. Hindi na masasabing inayos niya yung kaso niya (Because when she's out of the government, she no longer has an influence. She could not be suspected of influencing the case)," Marcos added.
Last week, Marcos appointed Finance Secretary Ralph Recto as the new executive secretary, replacing Bersamin; and named Adviser for Investments and Economic Affairs Secretary Frederick Go as the new Finance secretary.
Undersecretary Rolando Toledo was designated as officer-in-charge (OIC) of DBM, replacing Pangandaman.
