The Manila City Government has released P171 million in allowances for senior citizens across the city, continuing its commitment to welfare programs for the elderly under the city’s social support initiatives.
According to the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), the funds cover October to November allowances distributed to registered senior citizens in all six districts of the city.
Each senior citizen will receive P6,000 each on Dec. 11, 12 and 13.
The payout aims to provide financial relief for basic needs, medical expenses, and other daily necessities of Manila’s elderly residents.
City officials said the allocation was made possible through careful budgeting, improved revenue collection, and strengthened financial controls implemented throughout the year.
The city government reminded senior citizens to bring their valid identification cards and updated senior citizen booklets during scheduled payout days.
For those unable to appear due to health or mobility issues, house to house distribution is being coordinated with barangay leaders.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso reiterated that supporting Manila’s senior citizens remains one of the city’s top priorities, citing ongoing programs such as free medical checkups, maintenance medicine assistance, and social pension support.
The local government also encouraged unregistered seniors or newcomers to coordinate with their barangay offices or the MDSW to update their records and ensure inclusion in future distributions.
