Malabon Central Market inspected for compliance with price freeze

The Malabon Central Market was inspected by the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Monday, Nov. 24, to verify that vendors were complying with the city's price freeze currently in effect.

DA Assistant Secretary Atty led the inspection. Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, together with Assistant Secretary for Logistics Daniel Alfonso Atayde and FTI Rice Program Manager Engineer Edoard Medalla.
They were joined by personnel from the Market Management Office (MMO), Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), Mayor’s Complaint and Action Team (MCAT), and the Malabon City Police Station (MCPS).
Authorities reminded vendors to follow the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for basic goods and to make sure their weighing scales were clean and properly calibrated.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the city government is committed to protecting consumers.
She also encouraged shoppers to report any vendor who overprices goods or sells underweight products.
The local government added that regular monitoring will continue at the Malabon Central Market to ensure fair pricing and proper market practices for all residents.
