Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon assured the public that the first arrests linked to anomalous flood control projects are just the opening salvo in a sweeping accountability drive across the agency.
Dizon said more individuals involved in the irregularities will face charges soon.
This follows the release of mugshots of the initial seven suspects by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Monday, Nov. 24.
The first case involves a flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.
Dizon noted that the investigation will expand.
He added that combating corruption in public works is a top directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“We are at the point where everyone who must be held accountable will be held accountable, but this is just the start — many more cases are coming, many more will be charged, and many more will be arrested,” Dizon said.
He urged the public to anticipate further developments as the investigation unfolds.
Authorities also stressed that arrests would not be delayed until December, highlighting the government’s immediate action against anomalies in flood control projects meant to protect communities.
