The Department of Education (DepEd) has warned the public against a fake social media post falsely claiming that Christmas parties in schools have been canceled this year.
In an advisory on November 23, DepEd clarified that it has not issued any announcement removing or prohibiting Christmas celebrations in either public or private schools.
The agency also urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation circulating online.
“Fake news ang kumakalat na post tungkol sa umano’y pagtanggal ng Christmas Party sa mga paaralan (The circulating post about the supposed removal of Christmas parties in schools is fake news),” DepEd said.
DepEd further encouraged the public to report pages and accounts spreading false information to help stop the distribution of misleading content on social media.

DepEd also reminded parents, teachers, and students to follow only its official social media pages and website for accurate and verified announcements.
