Ashtine Olviga and Andres Muhlach welcome new chapter of 'Mutya Ng Section E'

Following the success of its first season, Jayjay and Kiefer are all set to bring more drama to "Ang Mutya Ng Section E: The Dark Side."
Ahead of its premiere on Viva One on December, Ashtine Olviga and Andres Muhlach, also known to fans as "AshDres'' shared some of their thoughts about their performance in the latest iteration of the show at the grand media conference held at the Viva Cafe last Nov. 18.
"Honestly, nagstick lang ako dun sa script bukod dun tinatanong rin namin sina direk [Petersen] kung tama ba yung pinapakita namin especially dun sa mga nuances or kung hindi naman okay yung ginagawa nandyan naman sina direk to guide us pabalik dun sa characters namin," Ashtine said.
(Honestly, I just followed the script. Aside from that, we would also check with Direk [Petersen] to make sure if we were doing things right—especially the nuances. And if something we did didn’t fit, he would guide us back into our characters.

Andres agreed, "I think really the essence of the JayFer tandem talaga is what keeps us going doing this project, and of course, it's what we do in front of the camera and how we deliver the scenes. Kaya kapag medyo nalo-lost kami, we really need to look back on how those two characters started."

Being recognized as one of this generation's rising love teams, Ashtine and Andres admitted there is huge  pressure that comes with the success but they are more keen on simply enjoying the ride. 
"Kasi hindi talaga ako yung tipo ng tao na nagwowork ng maayos kapag under pressure. Kaya ang nilalagay ko sa utak ko na kailangan ko lang mag-enjoy tapos ibigay yung best ko," Ashtine said.
"It's all about enjoying the process. Kasi, I feel that whatever project you do, if everyone is connecting and enjoying what they are doing nakikita yun sa screen," Andres added.
New faces on the series
Book Two of the series welcomes not only a new director but also additional characters.
Known for his works, "Un/Happy For You" and "A Very Good Girl," Petersen Vargas is set to direct the upcoming series.
Petersen recalls the first time he met the cast:
"I was lucky to meet them early on the process, nagkaroon kami ng workshop. Sila kasi yung tipo ng cast na ikaw na yung mag-aadjust sa kaguluhan nila, kumbaga nahawa ako sa energy nila and fortunately I've worked with a lot of young actors, so parang nakiki-bagets ako sa kanila." 
( I was lucky to meet them early on in the process; we had a workshop. They're the type where you have to adjust to their chaos, so I got caught up in their energy, and fortunately, I've worked with a lot of young actors, so, I got along well with them.)

Playing the role of Honey Bee Ryder, Rhen Escaño didn't have a hard time adjusting to her castmates.
"Majority talaga sa kanila hindi ko pa nakakawork, pero yung iba sa kanila nakawork ko na. Pina feel nila sa akin na parang hindi ako bago, really warm yung welcome nila. Tapos parang lahat nakakausap ko na, hindi ko naman na feel na out of place ako."
(I hadn’t worked with most of them before, though I’d worked with a few. But they made me feel like I wasn’t new at all—their welcome was truly warm. It felt like I could talk to everyone, and I didn’t feel out of place)

Also returnig this season are Taneo, Austin Dizon, Joko Diaz, Nathalie Hart, Billy Villeta, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Joonee Gamboa, Taneo, Austin Dizon, Ivan Padilla, Andre Yllana, Charles Law, Heart Ryan, Frost Sandoval, Sara Joe, Kurt Delos Reyes, Ethan David, Rafa Victorino, Keagan De Jesus, Angela Muji, Yanyan De Jesus, Sam Shoaf, Martin Venegas, AJ Ferrer, Michael Keith, Daniel Ong, Nic Galvez, Derick Ong, Kyosu Guinto, Axel Torres, Alex Payan, Zeke Polina, Jastine Lim, Sara Joe — and many more.
Composed of 18 episodes, the show will  unfold on December 4 with 9 episodes.
It will resume on June 11 for the second half.
