PNP steps up coordination with foreign cops to locate Cassandra Ong
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has stepped up its coordination with foreign counterparts to locate Cassandra Ong, a key figure linked to the controversial Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub Lucky South 99.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. said they will also be closely working with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) following the issuance of a Red Notice for the suspect.
“The PNP has intensified its coordination with foreign counterparts to track the location of Cassandra Ong. We are committed to delivering justice to the victims of illegal POGO hubs,” said Nartatez.
“Those involved in these illegal operations must face the consequences of their actions,” he stressed.
Authorities earlier reported that Ong fled to Japan early this year after her release from detention.
Ong is facing an active warrant of arrest issued by the Pampanga Regional Trial Court in May for qualified human trafficking in connection with the alleged scam hub operations of Lucky South 99.
At least two of the co-accused of Ong were already arrested by the police since arrest warrants were issued against all those charged for cases of Qualified Trafficking in Persons (Violation of Republic Act 9208 as amended), Violation of Section 4 (i) in relation to Section 6 (c) of RA No. 9208 as amended).
Aside from Ong, included in the charge sheet were former presidential spokesman Harry Roque and 49 others.
