Police arrested a man who robbed and took P121,925 in cash from a “pasalubong” store in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa.
The Muntinlupa police said Meljo’s Pasalubong Stand along National Road in Alabang was robbed by two men at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 21.
One of the two suspects, surnamed Del Mundo, 20, a resident of Payatas, Quezon City, was arrested by the police while the other suspect escaped.
According to the store’s cashier, he was sleeping in a house connected to the store when he was awakened by noise.
When he checked, he saw two men inside the store placing money in a sling bag. He also saw that one of the suspects was armed with a knife.
Out of fear, he hid but when he saw the suspects get out of the store, he followed them. Coincidentally, a police patrol car was passing by. He sought assistance from the police and pointed to the two suspects who entered the store.
The police ran after the suspects and Del Mundo was arrested. The police recovered the money, a sling bag, a “balisong” (butterfly knife) measuring about 11 inches in length, and two cutting pliers.
When the cashier returned to the store, he discovered that the padlock holder of the door was forcibly damaged and the store’s items were in disarray. He also discovered that the store’s earnings were missing.
The arrested suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Alabang Police Station and then to the Muntinlupa police’s Investigation and Detective Management Section for the filing of a criminal complaint.
