A 19-year-old teenager was arrested by the San Juan City Police last Nov. 19 after raping a minor-aged girl he met online, Eastern Police District (EPD) District Director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante said.
The suspect was identified as "Jet," who was arrested inside his residence in Barangay Sta. Lucia.
Jet was also tagged as a notorious child molester involved in the abuse of several other minors in February and March of this year. His prior cases remain pending for further investigation.
Lagradante said the suspect initially invited the victim to come to his condominium unit after a week of communicating online, where he proceeded to sexually assault her.
The victim's driver immediately reported the incident to the police, who launched a follow-up operation against the suspect, which led to his arrest.
Jet was placed under police custody and is now facing rape and sexual abuse charges.
Lagradante lauded the San Juan City Police for their swift action in apprehending the suspect.
"The San Juan City Police Station reiterates its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the community and urges the public to report any acts of violence, abuse, or exploitation. Community vigilance remains vital in ensuring swift police response and successful resolution of cases. I commend the San Juan City Police officers for the urgency they demonstrated during this operation. Their action reflects our continuing commitment to protect our communities, especially our children,” Lagradante said.
“To victims of abuse, I want to assure you: you are not alone. The police are here to help you. We encourage anyone who may be suffering in silence or who knows of similar incidents to come forward. Your courage can save lives, and we will stand with you every step of the way," he added.
