How cognitive training helps improve focus, memory, and learning skills
BrainRX Philippines offers science-backed programs that boost attention, memory, and problem-solving for learners ages 5 to senior adults
With so much happening simultaneously in our community and environment, today’s generation of learners faces challenges unlike anything previous generations have encountered. This, in turn, places greater pressure on parents to seek deeper, more effective solutions to address their children’s learning concerns, particularly when it comes to improving focus, memory, and comprehension.
To support parents in this journey, BrainRx Philippines offers cognitive testing and one-on-one, evidence-based cognitive training designed to strengthen the seven cognitive skills essential for learning, including attention, logic and reasoning, and working memory. At the center’s Train Your Brain learning event held on Nov. 6, 2025, in Taguig City, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle spoke with Joy Go, BrainRx Philippines co-founder and director, about the value of cognitive testing and how it can transform a learner’s abilities.
“BrainRx Learning Plus is a cognitive testing and cognitive training company,” she said. “Our services are twofold. One is cognitive skills testing or cognitive skills assessment. And then the other one is cognitive skills training or brain training for short.”

She explained that brain training is designed to strengthen how the brain learns—unlike traditional tutoring, which simply re-teaches information. This method is grounded in neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and rewire. Instead of reviewing academic lessons, professional trainers use intense, targeted, game-like exercises to stretch a student’s cognitive capacity. This process enhances the seven core cognitive skills used in learning and daily life, enabling students to process information more effectively.
“In that sense, we're not tutoring, we're not therapy,” she said. “We don't get the kids learning materials from school and study those. We have a system of exercises that is under license from Learning Rx USA. We implement that system here, and then the system will actually improve the quality of the cognitive skills.”
During the event’s Real Impact, Real Stories segment, a panel of parents shared testimonials about how BrainRx Learning Plus supported their neurotypical and neurodivergent children. Panelists included Cyril Addison of Deli by Chele with wife Pierre, Gen Enriquez-Gerodias of Expedise PH, tidying consultant Christine Dychiao, and Darlene Uy of Nestlé Philippines Inc. with her teen daughter Alexandrine. They recounted how the center’s brain training helped bridge learning gaps and unlock their children’s potential, resulting in improved focus, confidence, and overall performance.
Meanwhile, RJ Ledesma shared that while he was initially unsure about the program, witnessing his son’s progress convinced him. Now both of his sons are enrolled at the center.

“As director for training, I witness students’ transformations daily,” said Mel L. Sua, co-founder of BrainRx Philippines. “Our system's unique features, like immediate feedback and targeted intensity, are managed by the trainer to set up the right environment for students to grow. Something in the brain just clicks, and there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the ‘light bulb moment’ in every student-trainer interaction, when the students become more confident in their learning and problem-solving.”
Founded 13 years ago, BrainRx Learning Plus has continued expanding its reach to more families through its customized brain training programs under the BrainRx suite, developed by LearningRx USA—the world’s largest one-on-one brain training company.
It was also noted that the tests and training are not limited to children. BrainRx offers services for learners as young as five years old up to senior adults. "We have the power to ‘change our brains.’ We’re not born with a fixed set of brain skills. We can go beyond perceived limits and labels,” concluded Joy.
