A total of 120 families formerly living along Navotas’ coastlines and riverbanks received their new housing units on Friday, Nov. 21, under the NavotaAs Homes 3 project in Barangay Tanza 1.
The city’s Public Information Office said the five-hectare Tanza 1 site will have 24 low-rise buildings that can accommodate 1,440 families once completed.
Each unit includes a laundry and service area, ceramic-tiled toilet and bath, kitchen counter, smooth finishes, and a fire detection system with sprinklers. Families may also immediately apply for power and water connections.
The site is equipped with concrete roads, pathwalks, parking spaces, streetlights, drainage systems, and green areas, the city added.

The local government said Navotas currently operates six in-city housing projects, which help relocate families away from danger zones and can collectively shelter more than 3,000 families.
Beneficiaries are required to undergo drug testing before moving in to help ensure a safe and orderly community.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco said the new units offer families safer and more stable living conditions after years in flood-prone and high-risk areas.
“Our goal is for every Navoteño family to live safely and thrive in a community they can be proud of. We have moved thousands out of danger, and we will keep pushing forward until every family gets a safe and dignified home,” Tiangco said.
Rep. Toby Tiangco urged the beneficiaries to take care of their new homes and follow housing rules.
“You now have decent and safe homes. We hope you keep them clean and orderly and observe the facility’s policies to maintain peace and harmony in the community,” he said.
The initiative supports the city’s long-term goal of building safer and more resilient communities.
The turnover was led by Mayor Tiangco, Rep. Toby Tiangco, NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Undersecretary Henry Yap.
