"So it's been around five years already now. I am very happy with the warm welcome I received. Nagulat din ako na tuloy-tuloy yung offer. 'Roja' is a beautiful story with a great cast," said Yassi during a mediacon at Mi Cocina Cafe Restaurante Y Bar in Quezon City on Nov. 20.
Asked the reason why she took a break for five years, Yassi answered, "Napagod din talaga ako sa tuloy tuloy na five years of taping. Nothing bad about it naman, but I just realized trabaho lang ako ng trabaho. That was the time my father also passed on. I realized that you lose the time for those you work for, which is hard. So that hit me a lot. So now I will make sure I work and live my real life at the same time. And be with the people that I love."
In the "Roja," Yassi immerses herself in thrilling action sequences, showcasing her passion for this high-energy genre. She relishes the adrenaline rush of performing exciting stunts, and her enthusiasm for these dynamic scenes is evident in her energetic performances.
Given the opportunity, Yassi eagerly expressed her desire to delve into dynamic action projects.
"I've been doing Muay Thai since I was 18. I train in boxing as well. I've always wanted to do a lot of fight scenes. Kung doon pupunta ang career ko, I will do it for sure," she said.
As Yassi stepped into the spotlight to greet the showbiz press, she captivated everyone with her radiant presence.
Dressed in a striking red body-hugging ensemble, the fabric clung perfectly to her curves, accentuating her figure with elegance.
Her dedication to fitness and mindful eating shone through, highlighting the results of her hard work and discipline.
"I work out a lot and I eat differently. I also enjoy dancing a lot. May binubuo kami na parang fun kind of Zumba dance workout. It will be released soon," she said.
Yassi, 30, said she enjoys being on the set of "Roja," where she plays board games with the young stars during break. "We go to the beach and gym together. We also play volleyball. They have lots of energy."
Shooting on an island is fun, the actress added. "First thing in the morning, I see the sun. I bike a lot now. I'm into light lifting. Feeling ko parang nasa outing kami palagi."
Proud of Issa
Yassi got emotional when the interview shifted to her younger sister Issa.
"I am so proud of her. Sobra. As in. Grabe," said Yassi when asked about her sister.
Yassi said it took Issa a long time to be both vulnerable and strong. "She talked about it already. Ang importante na sana napick-up din ng mga tao is that it's during difficult times that people are quiet—the silent battles."
"But for me, I am just proud of her and how she has grown. Merong choices ang mga tao after mapuno ang emotions mo ng galit. Minsan yung mga tao dinadala nila yun and passed it on to the new generation, but she has the bravery to cut it off," said Yassi.
In a heartfelt revelation, Issa bravely shed light on her experiences with online bashing while navigating the intense scrutiny of the spotlight.
"We are fortunate to be surrounded by a core group. Ang sabi ko lang sa kanya s speak your truth. Support. That's what she has from me. She has my support," said Yassi.
"It's important for people to know that bullying is not for fun. I always try to be there for her. Pero siyempre may mga pagkakataon na ayaw nilang sabihin sa yo ir nahihiya sila."
Yassi shared what she loves most about Issa. "She has the sweetest heart. She wants to give. Sobrang bait niya."
Thrilling vacation getaway
In the series 'Roja,' viewers are invited to a thrilling vacation getaway at the exclusive La Playa Roja island resort, where head chef Liam (Donny) and security team member Olsen (Kyle) play former best friends turned rivals as their solid brotherhood is torn apart by betrayal and jealousy. Additionally, Maymay Entrata plays the role of Luna, Liam’s sous chef and best friend.
What was once an inseparable bond between the two turns sour when Liam discovers that his father (Raymond Bagatsing) is having an affair with a younger woman (Yassi Pressman), which Olsen knew about all along but chose to keep it a secret.
Thrust in the middle of Liam and Olsen’s faltering friendship are Liam’s parents and resort owners, played by Raymond and Lorna Tolentino, and Olsen’s mother (Janice De Belen), who all have a deep relationship with the two boys despite their ongoing conflict.
Behind the paradise-esque vibes the resort offers, chaos and danger will ensue when a hostage-taking crisis unfolds, led by Yassi and Joel Torre, along with a group of unidentified armed individuals with a hidden agenda. No one will be spared from the hostile takeover as resort staff and VIP guests are all held captive.
When individuals are killed one by one by the hostage-takers, Liam and Olsen will be forced to confront their misunderstanding and put their combat skills to the test in order to save themselves and their families.
Can Liam and Olsen find a way to resolve their conflict? Who will be able to survive the deadly hostage-taking?
