Muntinlupa mayor named chairperson of NCR Peace and Order Council
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon has been appointed by the Office of the President as the new chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region (RPOC-NCR).
The RPOC-NCR is tasked “to formulate plans and monitor the implementation of programs for peace and order,” according to its website.
“I am deeply honored to have been chosen to Chair the NCR Peace and Order Council, a body that plays an important role in ensuring that the National Capital Region remains peaceful, safe and orderly through the coordinated and collaborative adoption of policies and programs among local government units and national government agencies,” Biazon told the Manila Bulletin.
Before being elected as mayor of Muntinlupa, Biazon served as congressman.
“Having focused on national defense and security as well as local peace and order during my terms in Congress, I'm familiar with the issues and concerns regarding peace and order,” he said.
He added, “I thank the President and the Secretary of Interior and Local Government for this opportunity to serve the NCR and I commit to guide the objectives of the region to align with those of the national government.
The ROPC-NCR is “composed of 54 members, with regional-line agencies, and the Local Chief Executives of the NCR.”
Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-NCR, the head secretariat of RPOC-NCR, met with Biazon following the release of his appointment.
The DILG-NCR said it will support RPOC-NCR’s new endeavors and plans under Biazon.
