LPA may develop, traverse Philippines next week — PAGASA
Scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected across parts of the country in the coming days due to a potential low-pressure area (LPA) and other weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather outlook for Nov. 21 to 28.
From Friday to Sunday, Nov. 21 to 23, the shear line, or the boundary where warm and cold air masses collide and generate rain-bearing clouds, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga.
Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), an imaginary line near the equator where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet and form rain clouds, will cause mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and Palawan.
The northeast monsoon (amihan), a cold and dry wind coming from the northeast, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the Ilocos Region and Batanes, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm and humid winds from the Pacific Ocean.
From Monday to Wednesday, Nov. 24 to 26, PAGASA said the potential LPA may traverse the Philippine landmass, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.
The shear line will continue to affect Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Aurora, which will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to amihan, while the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms from the easterlies.
By Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and 28, PAGASA said the shear line will again bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao.
Ilocos Region and the rest of CAR will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, while the rest of the country will continue to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
